Summary of the DnD Campaign
Nearly two years ago, I gathered a group of players from the RT site, and beyond. The group grew, shrank, shifted, grew, shrank, grew again. I currently have 7 players, which is more than my ideal, but I like the people I have and we make it work with so many.
It's been an interesting road for the heroes, and I thought I'd give as brief a summary here as I could, while including all the important details - for anyone curious how the story has developed. I will leave off character specifics that are not known to the general party yet.
It all began at the annual festival celebrating the Unification of the northern-most, snowy province of Ebon

“I don’t know what you want me to tell you!” Four Twenty-Six whined, he was getting agitated. The First Knight pressed him hard for information.
“We just need to know where those big fights, the war, took place. You must know, between the representatives of the gods and the lizard-folk of the Old One?” Marcus’ frustration mounted as the Quetzal cringed and dodged his questions.
The Quetzal cried out as if struck as Marcus finished his question. “No, no! Do not speak of the Bad Men! We must not speak of the Bad Men who did the Bad Things!”
He raised his clawed wings and

“Good. Now, shape the magic.”
The instructor circled Nerevar scrutinizing his every muscle. She had an imperious face, even for a scholar of Semarseniel. Nerevar could hear her white and silver robes rustle in the quiet room as she moved about, pushing and prodding his limbs into the proper positions.
“This is a wave. Envision the magic with your mind, give it form. Start with a sphere. Manipulate it and make an arc, then let that arc expand away from you, carrying danger with it.”
Nerevar held his staff across his extended hands before him. Eyes closed, he did as instructed. He could

Nerevar heard clinking metal behind him as someone or something moved through the underbrush. The sounds were quiet with long pauses between. Whoever was there was trying to sneak around. Nerevar waited for the sounds to settle closer. He was sure the visitor was trying to assess him, though he wasn’t sure if it was his threat level or his wealth they were interested in. For being such short-lived creatures, those on the material plane could certainly take their time to do or say something important.
Nerevar stood with his back to the “visitor.” He waited to hear the person strike out from cover toward him. He h

Nerevar wiped sweat from his brow with his sleeve. It was quite hot and humid in this tropical zone under the Ice Cap and the sun was now high in the sky. The sun was visible as a scattering of light concentrated around a brilliant spark showing through the ice layer that encapsulated the area. Nerevar had read that, in some places, the ice dome was up to one hundred feet thick. He could see that the inside of the dome rested comfortably at least five hundred feet above his head. He was also aware that the roof tapered down to almost ground level at the edges where it met thick glaciers that encircled the entire northern pole.

Legacy of the Old One Ch. 20
The next morning, Laurelie woke with the cloaked figure’s words still on her mind. It had even occupied her dreams, providing welcome respite from the usual nightmares. How did her home come to be? And what did the Capitol's financial records have to do with it? She didn't have very long to ponder these questions, as partway through breakfast, the door to the inn flew open. “A fine greeting to you all on this beautiful morning!” The man who came through the door was tall, with light brown hair pulled back into a short ponytail, a sturdy jaw, and a cleft chin. He looked like one of the handsome knights from the children st

My Dearest,
The bed! Ohhhh the bed! It’s better than we ever dreamed! So plush I feel as though I might fall asleep sitting and writing this. And so bouncy! I can touch the ceiling! Me! Or I would at least if this darn canopy wasn’t in the way…I wonder if I could sleep up there…bet that would surprise those servants. They’re everywhere! The princess may have been easy to steal from, but her father would be near impossible. Which of course you’d say is half the fun. Even so, I’d rather not end up in prison again…
Not that I even could steal from them right now. I know you tell me

With their ambushers dispatched, the party set to breaking down camp. They silently agreed to eat travel rations on the road or otherwise skip breakfast entirely.
The Minotaur closed his eyes briefly, as he had done when Laurelie first woke him and whispered to her, “perhaps you ought to scout ahead.”
Laurelie felt her eyebrows draw down in mild confusion, but agreed easily. She suspected The Minotaur knew more than he said outright. Why he hid it, she couldn't be sure. Why she still trusted him, she was even less certain.
She pushed the thoughts out of her head for the moment and focused on seeing without being see
